The theme for the day’s meeting was “BBQ Time”

We are a Beaverton Toastmasters Club that meets weekly. Kristin was Toastmaster today, dreaming of BBQ Time, especially in this hot weather. A SpartanNash survey from 2025 found that the average American foodie attends five cookouts in summer and hosts four. The prepared speech by Summer was an introduction to glimmers, the opposite of triggers. Watching for glimmers produces a moment of joy. Tom’s grammarian role gave us the WOD, “Seasonings”, which goes right along with one’s favorite BBQ. Lorri was the Table topics master. Dan was the evaluator for Summer’s speech. Tom was the general evaluator. His word to the wise was not to think of evaluations as a search for the negative, but to ask what could be done to take the speech up a notch. Summer won the table topics two weeks in a row. Her impromptu speech was about a BBQ that ended with picking hog hair out of one’s teeth.
